So delicious! Thanks for the recipe!
My pleasure!
Can something be substituted for pineapple? I’m not a fan. Other than that, it sounds delicious!
You could probably just omit the pineapple and that would work. 🙂
I use fruit cocktail drained
Just made it. Can’t wait to try it tonight!
I hope you enjoyed it!
can you use strawberry instead of cherry filling?
I think that would work!
Did you try the strawberries? I’m curious how it went!

I had been looking for this recipe for awhile! I grew up having this every Thanksgiving and Christmas at our dinner. My mom has dementia now and could not tell me how to make it so thank you for bringing back a special memory!!
Yay! This makes me happy that it triggers a happy memory!
My grandma has made this for holidays/gatherings my entire life and it is SOO addicting!! She also makes it a lot like your grandmas recipe only difference is that we use the crushed pineapples instead and also add in around 3/4 cup miniature marshmallows.. so so addicting!!
Thanks for sharing the
I’m so glad you like it!
Do you drain the pineapple?
I was wondering the same thing. In the video it shows drained pineapple.
Yes, drained. 🙂
Can you make this the night before for a early brunch?
I made this recipe for Thanksgiving.
Great recipe! I modified some of the ingredients.
For my taste I did not add a whole can of sweetened condensed milk, at most a 1/4 of a can.
I used 2 cans of pie filling to 16 oz of cool whip, and added bananas.
Next time, I will add some grapes and shredded coconut.
Nice vintage recipe.
Wow it looks so delicious!! I’d like to make it a try. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I have been making this recipe for the past 40 years. It is also very good with Blueberrie pie filling.
I dont use crushed pineapple.
I use pineapple tibets and cut them in half, everyone likes the bigger pieces of furit better.
If you make it the day before, you will be surprised how much better it tastes. The longer it sits the better it tastes.
On grandma’s cherry pie filling desert do you drain the juice?
No
Its awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait until tomorrow to see how it taste after the ingredients marry over night.
Oh, it’s even better the next day!
