How to Make Acorn Donut Holes
Equipment needed for Acorn Donut Holes
Ingredients for Acorn Donut Holes
Store-Bought Donut Holes: These are small, ready-made donuts that are perfect for creating your acorn-shaped treats.
Nutella or Chocolate Frosting: Nutella is a sweet hazelnut-chocolate spread, and chocolate frosting is a creamy, chocolate-flavored topping. Both add a rich and indulgent flavor to your donut holes.
Fall Sprinkles: These are tiny, colorful decorations that bring a festive and autumn-themed touch to your treats.
Stick Pretzels: Stick pretzels are slender, salty snacks that you’ll use to create the “stems” for your acorn-shaped donut holes.
Instructions for Acorn Donut Holes Recipe
- Dump fall sprinkles in a small bowl (I mixed two types of sprinkles together). Lay down wax paper in preparation for the assembly of the acorns.
- Melted Nutella or chocolate frosting in the microwave in a deep, small bowl about 15-20 seconds or until just melted. Dip each donut hole halfway into Nutella/frosting, then dip in sprinkles. Place a stick pretzel, broken in half, into the top of the “acorn” and let cool on wax paper.

Thanks so much, Pam! They are so fun to make and eat!
These are awesome! My daughters class is doing a Thanksgiving Brunch before break and these are going to fit the Menu perfectly! How long do you think the donuts will stay fresh after assembled? Trying to decide if I can make them the night before or that morning I am taking them into her class? Thanks!
You can absolutely make them the night before and put them in an air-tight container. 🙂
These are the cutest thing I have seen in a long time. I so want to make some to take to the Senior Center. Are you using bought holes or making yourself? Thanks for the smile and the recipe! B Karr.
I just bought the donut holes because it was so much easier!
Thanks for the recipes Amy. Will make this for my kids tonight. Looks damn delicious + cute 🙂
You are so welcome! Let me know how they turn out!
Love this.Thank you for sharing.
I love this idea! My sister-in-law makes Thanksgiving every year and I’d love to make these and bring them for dessert. Will I be able to put a bunch of them in a cake box or do they need to be served/stored in a single layer? I can’t wait to do this. They are going to be such a hit!
Great question! I would keep them in a single layer to avoid any frosting getting on the other “acorns.” 🙂
This looks so good! What a fun treat to make for fall brunch!
