Dreamy Kitchen Decor and Designs!
I’ve been daydreaming a lot about renovating some of the rooms in our house — do you ever do that? Get wrapped up in online catalogs and inspirational blogs just trying to find that look to suit you perfectly? Well, I certainly spend enough time scrolling through my RSS feeds, swooning overlooks that I’d love to bring into my home someday.
In order to put all that scrolling to good use, I bring you the “In My Dream…” series!
Throughout my next few posts, I’ll be sharing ideas from my dream rooms — bedrooms, bathrooms & beyond! Enjoy!
First stop: the kitchen!
When it comes to kitchens — my most favorite room of all! — I’m a sucker for whitewashed wood, open concepts, chalkboards, benches & stools, vintage lighting, beautifully displayed items on minimalist shelving & just a little sparkle.
Maybe I’m crazy for having a serious urge to rip out all of our kitchen cupboards — but all that open shelving is just so wonderful. And why own all those pretty kitchen gadgets and dishes and mugs if you can only see them when they are in use? I’m sure these shelves necessitate much more dusting, but I think it might be worth it for the serene feeling that these kitchens give me. Ahhh, we could all use a little more serenity in our lives.
The chalkboard idea certainly isn’t a new one but I love the cafe feel that it gives to a space. Think of all the sweet little notes you could leave for your family, or the recipes you could share. Perfect for shopping lists too, of course!
You can use chalkboard paint right on the wall, or if you’re not into that, you can always pick p a pretty vintage chalkboard and mount it wherever you’d like.
I found this one on Etsy.
Now, if you’re going to go with the open shelving concept, then everything you display ought to be both beautiful and functional, oui? Oui! For years my wishlist has included one of these gorgeous mixers — my goodness wouldn’t baking be such a simple task with one of these babies on hand? I might just have to treat myself to one someday!
I love that the KitchenAid website calls them “legendary”. I think that might be the perfect word!
Since lots of baking and cooking will take place in this dream kitchen, some accessories are in order.
As I mentioned before, wood is a big love of mine in the kitchen — from furniture to flooring to accessories, for instance, I feel like you can never have too many wooden spoons.
Aren’t they beautiful? Works of art!
Just looking at these spoons is making me a bit hungry — there’s just something so nice about taste-testing your recipes from a wooden spoon. Plastic just isn’t homey (or eco-friendly) enough!
I think it’s fairly commonplace for kitchen lighting to be thought of in a merely utilitarian sort of way — but why can’t it be just as beautiful as the rest of your room? Take the above for example — just tying the yellow into the fixture gives this little breakfast nook all sorts of character!
I actually fell in love with this pendant lamp on our last trip to IKEA. Would you believe it’s mostly made of paper? Amazing! I can just imagine the beautiful images it would cast on the wall.
I also love this blue canning jar lamp — I think it would be great in a country setting.
Earlier I mentioned my love for wood floors, but if I can’t have wood — give me this!
The classic kitchen floor — checked and oh so smart!
Lastly, what’s a great kitchen without beautiful dishes to enjoy all that fabulous food?
I can’t pick a favorite — they’re all so beautiful & unique!
So there you have it! I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour through my dream kitchen! Be sure to stay tuned for the next installment in this series! (if you haven’t already subscribed to MomSpark.net, you can do so by clicking here!)
