Homemade Menthol Vapor Rub
Along my quest to learn more about essential oils and how to effectively integrate them into my life, I have been experimenting a TON with homemade remedies and beauty recipes. Lotions, soaps, balms – I can’t seem to stop!
Today I am sharing an extremely easy menthol vapor rub that you can whip up in only a few minutes. Literally, just a few minutes!
I love the simplicity of this homemade vapor rub and I also love knowing exactly what is in it. I have listed the recipe below, along with links to the ingredients if you do not already have them on hand. Stay tuned for even more homemade beauty and home remedies in the coming weeks!
Homemade Menthol Vapor Rub
Ingredients:
5 TB coconut oil
2 TB cocoa butter or shea butter
1 1/2 TB beeswax
30 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
12 drops each: Peppermint and Lavender essential oils
5 drops Tea Tree essential oil
Directions:
1. In a small saucepan, warm coconut oil and cocoa butter/shea butter over low heat until it melts. Add beeswax and melt.
2. Remove pan from heat. Let the mixture sit in the pan for around 5 minutes. This is an important step, as it allows the mixture to cool enough so that the oils will not be destroyed from the intense heat.
3. When the 5 minutes are up, add all of the oils to the liquid and combine with a spoon.
4. Pour the final mixture into a small, 4 oz glass jar – I use jelly jars. Let the mixture cool until it creates a soft, creamy rub!
