Holiday Cranberry Habanero Dip
Ingredients
- olive oil
- 1 Habanero pepper de-seeded and diced
- 4 sweet baby bell peppers diced
- 1/4 c red wine
- 12 oz fresh cranberries
- Juice from 1 orange
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Freshly cracked black pepper
- Sea salt to taste
- Several dashes of your favorite habanero hot sauce
- 1 block cream cheese
pair with:
- Crackers or Toasted Bread
Instructions
- In a skillet over low heat, sauté habanero and sweet bell peppers until just tender, about 5 minutes. Add red wine halfway through cooking to deglaze and reduce.
- In a large pot over medium heat, combine cranberries, fresh orange juice, water, sugars, cinnamon, black pepper, sea salt, hot sauce [if desired] and sautéed pepper mixture. Simmer until cranberries begin to pop and liquid reduces by half.
- Cool and serve over cream cheese or on its own with crackers or toasted bread.
