Ingredients

  • olive oil
  • 1 Habanero pepper de-seeded and diced
  • 4 sweet baby bell peppers diced
  • 1/4 c red wine
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • Juice from 1 orange
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Several dashes of your favorite habanero hot sauce
  • 1 block cream cheese

pair with:

  • Crackers or Toasted Bread

Instructions

  • In a skillet over low heat, sauté habanero and sweet bell peppers until just tender, about 5 minutes. Add red wine halfway through cooking to deglaze and reduce.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, combine cranberries, fresh orange juice, water, sugars, cinnamon, black pepper, sea salt, hot sauce [if desired] and sautéed pepper mixture. Simmer until cranberries begin to pop and liquid reduces by half.
  • Cool and serve over cream cheese or on its own with crackers or toasted bread.
