Where to Buy Tieks Ballet Flats + My Honest Review
Where to buy Tieks ballet flats and my personal review.
Are Tieks flats worth the price?
Keep reading for my honest thoughts.
Everyone is talking about Tieks by Gavrieli these days. Even Oprah. Have you heard, too?
If not, Tieks shoes are modern, foldable ballet flats that are available in a slew of colors and patterns. Tieks are known for their comfort and finest Italian leather.
So, do Tieks live up to their hype? I wanted to find out for the first time for a blog post, so I got in touch with Tieks and was fortunate enough to receive a pair for review – Cardinal Red. ($175) My first pair of Tieks!
An Honest Review of Tieks Ballet Flats
When I first tried on the Tieks by Gavrieli pair of flats, they were very comfortable, but did need a bit of breaking in. No biggie at all, as this is common with brand-new shoes!
The bottoms of all Tieks include blue rubber patches, which make the ballet flats non-skid and add comfort. Not slipping is a good thing, I’m klutzy enough as it is. Plus, the blue patches are kinda cool.
Tieks also have a blue stripe on the back of the flats that match the rubber soles on the bottoms. It is a cute accent that makes Tieks unique.
So, what is my final verdict on Tieks? I really love them. All good things! They are easy to put on, store in a bag or purse, and are super comfortable. Overall, a very versatile shoe.
Tieks Have a Color Option for Any Outfit
In fact, I’ve already ordered a second pair in “Ballerina Pink.” Check them out in my post here. I think I need matte black next. 😉
Since the flats come in so many colors, they go with a million different outfits and add the perfect pop of color to a wardrobe. Love. The only problem is that I want every color now, ha!
They have a high price tag, yes, but at the end of the day, with high-quality Italian leather ballet flats, they are sure to last a very, very long time. They are certainly not cheap shoes! I believe that the longer you wear them, the more comfortable they become, too. So, I say they are worth the investment for “expensive shoes.”
FAQs about Tieks:
What size should I get if there aren’t half sizes?
from the Tieks website:
Many women can comfortably size up or down in Tieks. We typically suggest going down unless you have a wide foot, or sometimes size up. Try your Tieks on at home and if they aren’t the perfect fit, we have an amazing exchange policy for pairs in their original condition!
note: I wear a 9 1/2, so I went with a size 10 and they fit just right. No big toe crunching! I’m glad I moved up to a different size (larger size) instead of going with a smaller size.
Do Tieks work for narrow or wide feet?
Yes! The beauty of these flats is that they are moldable and flexible for feet of all sizes.
Do Tieks have arch support?
The flats do not have inserted arch support, but do include padding for comfort.
Will Tieks flats work for plantar fasciitis?
If you suffer from plantar fasciitis, I would recommend orthotic inserts if the flats are uncomfortable to wear.
Are there vegan options?
Yes! There are several vegan styles!
How much is shipping?
Tieks offer free shipping within the US!
What about returns?
Shipping is free for all returns.

Fun! I’ve been wondering about these too… Love that red 😉
They are pretty cool. 🙂 They have a ruby red that I wanted, but they were out at the time.
I want the Starstruck’s so bad!
I know, they are so cool!
Just got my first pair; Clover Green. They are awesome sauce. I am already scheming how to get another pair.
Oooo, the green is very cool. I really, really want the ruby red and the blue.
I love my matte black Tieks, and their customer service is beyond amazing! I ordered the wrong size (I’m usually a half size), and they sent my new pair right away with a prepaid UPS return label. 🙂
Oh wow, that is fabulous! I had heard from a friend that it is always good to size up, so I made to do that when I ordered. She was right!
I really wanted to like Tieks but I tried and failed. I wear a pretty standard size 10 but found them to be a little short. I went up in size and while they were a better fit (I recommend choosing a size based on your European rather than US size, it seemed to be a bit more true to size), I still had some “toe cleavage” and didn’t like that you could see the shape of your toes bumping through the leather upper. The color selection was great, packaging was terrific, the price a bit high, but the folding bit was a seller. Disappointed they didn’t work for me. I’ll stay with my Born Julianne ballet flat – better fit, more comfortable, roughly 1/2 the price.
I’m sorry to hear that, Ruth. I have found that the longer I wear the Tieks the more they “loosen up”, which makes them more comfortable. I had some rubbing the first week of wearing everyday, so I was worried but they worked out in the end and now I wear them often. I love traveling with them since they are so easy to remove through security and fold up easily for packing. 🙂
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I’m sorry they didn’t work out for you.
I’m so picky about my ballet flats, did you find that they dug into the back of your foot at all? So many of the flats that I try end up killing me because the back of the shoe is too painful!
The Tieks didn’t bother the back of my foot at all. I had issues with the top of my foot, as I mentioned in the post, but it quickly went away after a week of wearing them. (I had to break them in)
Thank you so much, both for the review and for this comment. I’m looking at flats for my upcoming wedding, and I’m leaning toward Tieks but I’ve had issues with this type of shoe rubbing the back of my foot and causing blisters in the past. It’s good to know that wasn’t an issue for you!
My pleasure, Jocey! I would still break them in by wearing them for a week or so before the wedding, just so that they are extra comfy. 🙂

What about the support? I’m a teacher and I have to stand all day. Does this shoe offer good arch support or are they just flat – like standing bare foot all day?
Hmmmm, great question. I would not say that this shoe has great arch support. It is like wearing nothing, like being barefoot as you suggested. However, it would be great to have on hand at school when wearing dress shoes all day. 🙂
Thanks for the info – probably NOT the shoe I’m looking for then. FYI: most teachers I know don’t wear dress shoes because we have to stand all day and it’s so hard feet, knees, etc… for the price – if they had the necessary support I’d gladly pay it but just to be comfy after work – there are many MUCH cheaper options. However I do appreciate the prompt reply and the information!
Thanks for the info! Do you wear them barefoot? If so, do your feet sweat/does the shoe get smelly? If not, what kind of footies do you wear with them?
Yes, I wear them barefoot. I haven’t noticed an odor yet, but I try to take them off immediately when I get home so they can air out after wearing all day. 🙂
Where are the Tieks manufactured?
Thanks
Good question, wondered that myself
I have asked Tieks and will be reply ASAP!
Tieks have factories in Brazil, Italy and Asia, and final assembly is here in the US. 🙂
O.K. Tieks are lovely, the leather is amazing, the return policy excellent but the price is high for made in China. I am very bothered by how much is made in China anyway and even more so that so many companies are trying to hide it. I think Tieks can afford to have their shoes made elsewhere that has a better human rights track record and is at least somewhat democratic. Please speak out and if you have concern about country of manufacture being China let Tieks know.

Have you purchased the Arabian Nights yet? If so, which shade did you choose? I would love to see a picture of YOUR Arabian Nights if you have a pair.
I haven’t bought a pair yet, but I’m dying to get them!
I have to be honest in saying I hated my Tieks the first three or four times I wore them. True, the box is cute and I kept it because it is so fancy. True, the shoes smell wonderful like a plush leather easy chair. True, the hand-written note is a cute touch. But I was buying shoes, not a fancy box or a friendly note. I wanted the SHOES to be amazing. The first day I wore them, it felt like my feet were on fire…literally. I had paid so much for the shoes, I didn’t want to give up. Plus, they are so darn cute. Even now when I wear them, my feet hurt at the end of the day. Every day is a little better and I am waiting for the day that my feet finally aren’t killing me after wearing the shoes so I can join the ranks of those singing their praises. But for now, I never, ever recommend the shoes and when people ask me, I am brutally honest. I wish someone would have been honest with me because I might not have bought the beautiful bits of leather loveliness.
Hello, I was wondering, have you or anyone else noticed if the toe area wears through the leather at all? Or does it stand up pretty well? I noticed mine have lost some of the white fabric material that is attached to the inner leather, and I’m just hoping they don’t wear a whole through the leather. Thanks!
I am a teacher who has suffered from plantar fasciitis, and I could stand to use a few pounds. I am on my feet all day. I have recently fell in love with Tieks! I got my first pair in Clover Green about a month ago. My Tangerine Tieks just came in the mail. The are super comfortable, and have great shock absorbtion. With cheap flats I felt like I was pounding my bare feet against the pavement by the end of the day. This is not the case with Tieks. They are worth every penny!
Yay! I’m so happy to read about your personal experience with Tieks. They are certainly worth the investment!
I’m sure it depends on how often you wear them, but how long did you have these before they started to smell bad compared to cheaper flats? For they price it would be nice for them to last a little longer 🙂
Hmmmm, mine don’t smell bad, but I don’t wear them exclusively (I like to switch up my looks, including with shoes, ha). Are you experiencing this issue?
I love your jeans! Do you mind sharing which brand they are? Thank you!
I believe these were very old Old Navy jeans! Thank you!
