Friends, we are only a few weeks away from the Fall season. Last week, it actually felt like Fall here in Oklahoma (this week feels like summer again, ha!). My favorite time of year for fashion, nature, and, of course, FALL FOOD.
So, my mind has been running with ALL THE FALL COMFORT FOOD I am looking forward to making and creating this year. The obvious Fall ingredients like pumpkin, cinnamon, sweet potato, cider, squash, apple….the list goes on and on. And speaking of apples…today’s Fall recipe is featuring apple spice and all things nice (see what I did there?).

Move over apple pie, we’ve got delicious cake bars in town! No offense to apple pie because I love me some apple pie. Or pumpkin pie. Or any pie, really. But cake? Cake takes the cake.
With cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, applesauce, and a deliciously sweet white sugar frosting, these Frosted Apple Spice Cake Bars are sure to be gobbled up quickly! The Fall dessert that your family will be talking about for years to come. A new Fall tradition!
Ingredients for Frosted Apple Spice Fall Cake Bars
bars:
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 2 tsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
icing:
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

Easy Apple Spice Fall Cake Bars Recipe
Ingredients
bars:
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine softened
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 2 tbsp butter softened
- 2 tsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
icing:
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
bars:
- Preheat the oven to 350F. Spray an 8 x 8-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, and egg until smooth. Stir in applesauce.
- In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; stir into the applesauce mixture until well blended. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 22 to 24 minutes or until edges is golden. Cool completely in the pan over a wire rack.
icing:
- In a small bowl, combine confectioners' sugar and butter. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Spread over cooled bars before cutting into squares.

There’s 1/4 c of butter listed first and then 2T butter listed towards the end (for the bars)… where is the 2T used?
