No-brainer Recipe: Secret Ingredient Banana Smoothie

In Volume One – Issue Two of Penzeys One Magazine I ran across a simple yet intriguing recipe for Banana Smoothies. Unlike the smoothies of my past, this smoothie was very thin and only took a few ingredients. It is a perfect, refreshing drink and a great way to sneak in some calcium and fruit into your kiddies menu.

Oh, and for those who were wondering like I was, the secret to these Banana Smoothies is a small addition of almond extract.

Secret Banana Smoothies
Makes 1 large serving, shown

In a blender, add 1 cup milk, 1 cup ice cubes, 1 banana, 1 tsp. almond extract and 1 tsp sugar (optional). Blend until smooth.
